Online。 Enlish: Hi everyone, I'd like to share a side project I recently shipped: ApologyLetter.Online. URL: What it does: A free, nologin AI tool that helps people generate sincere, specific, and highly personalized apology letters in seconds. Why I built it: Knowing what to say when you've messed up is a universal struggle. A generic "I'm sorry" rarely fixes things; a real apology needs context and emotional intelligence. As a 19yearold student majoring in crossborder ecommerce, I wanted to combine this everyday problem with a handson experiment in global micromonetization, taking a product from prompt tuning all the way to international payments. Tech & Product Highlights: Minimalist Stack & "Brute Force" Rate Limiting: Built with Next.js 15 (App Router), Tailwind CSS, and hosted on Vercel. To keep it as lightweight as possible, I didn't use a database. To prevent API abuse, I just wrote an inmemory IP rate limiter using a Map within the Serverless instance. It resets on cold starts, but it’s completely sufficient for a V1 validation phase. AntiRobotic Prompt Engineering: To prevent the AI from sounding like a generic corporate bot, I engineered the system prompt with strict constraints: "take full responsibility, no excuses, promise concrete change, and NO robotic AI preambles." Letting users select the tone (Sincere, Romantic, Humble, Gentle) drastically improved the "human touch." The "Free + $0.99" Monetization Loop: Generating and copying the text is 100% free (which is great for SEO and wordofmouth). However, I integrated PayPal (@paypal/reactpaypaljs), so if a user wants to download a beautifully formatted, printready PDF, it costs $0.99. It’s a fun way to apply ecommerce thinking to a digital microtool. Takeaway: This is a classic example of using a "boring" tech stack to solve a real human problem. The code isn't overly complex, but it completes the full indie hacking cycle: ideation, prompt engineering, antiabuse measures, SEO setup, and payment integration. Hopefully, this provides some inspiration for anyone looking to build and monetize a lightweight microSaaS!
